Magic Beach

Blending live action with a charming mix of 2D, stop-motion, and claymation animation, Magic Beach transforms Alison Lester’s cherished children’s book into a dreamy and visually captivating film. Featuring work from several acclaimed Australian animators, the adaptation brings to life a world where children’s dreams turn into extraordinary adventures.

Much of the Princess Belinda section was brought to life at Knuckles Animation Studio, where we collaborated closely with acclaimed animator Marieka Walsh. Together, with a talented team, we crafted the sandy sets, created the felt puppets, and animated much of the stop-motion in-house. The animation direction was a shared effort between Susie and Marieka, with both animators bringing their expertise to different sequences to create a seamless and immersive visual world.

With its stunning visuals and timeless charm, Magic Beach is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the innocence of childhood.

In cinemas January 2025.
